Terms of service

These terms apply when you use HostingChecker.online, its tools and its API. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them.

The service

HostingChecker.online looks up the hosting provider, DNS records, SSL certificate, IP address details and domain registration of any domain or IP address. Piotr Kulpinski runs it from Poland. In these terms, “we” means him and “you” means anyone who uses the site or the API.

Accounts

Lookups in the browser need no account. To use the API or keep a lookup history, you need an account. You must be at least 16, give a real email address, and keep your password and API keys secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account and keys. If a key leaks, delete it in your dashboard. We may also disable a key we find in public.

Limits and plans

Browser lookups are free and rate limited per minute. API calls count against a monthly quota, and only lookups that are not already cached count. Unused calls do not roll over. The free quota resets on the first day of each month (UTC), and a paid quota at the start of each billing period.

  • Free: 100 API calls per month, free.
  • Basic: 5,000 API calls per month, $9 per month.
  • Growth: 25,000 API calls per month, $29 per month.
  • Scale: 100,000 API calls per month, $79 per month.

Current prices are in the pricing section. Price changes apply from your next billing period, never to one you already paid for.

Payments

Polar sells paid plans to you as the merchant of record, so it handles payment, sales tax, VAT and invoices, and its terms of service also apply to the purchase. Plans renew every month until you cancel. You can cancel or downgrade at any time in the billing portal, and keep your plan until the end of the paid period. An upgrade takes effect at once, with a prorated charge for the rest of the period.

If something went wrong with a charge, email hello@hostingchecker.online and we will sort it out. Consumers keep any right of withdrawal or refund that the law of their country gives them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Get around rate limits or quotas, for example with several accounts or rotating IP addresses.
  • Scrape the website instead of using the API.
  • Use the service to attack, overload or probe systems you have no permission to test.
  • Use lookup results, including registration data, to harass, spam or stalk anyone.
  • Resell raw API access as your own lookup service without our written permission.

We may suspend accounts or keys that break these rules.

Accuracy of results

Results come from public sources such as DNS, TLS certificates, IP registries and domain registries, combined with our own detection rules. These sources change and are sometimes wrong, and a CDN or proxy can hide the real hosting provider. Results are provided for information only. Check them before you rely on them for legal, security or purchasing decisions.

Your use of results

You may use lookup results, including in commercial products. Registration data can contain personal data of domain owners, so follow the data protection law that applies to you when you store or use it.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running but do not guarantee any uptime. We may change, add or remove features. If a change removes something your paid plan includes, you can cancel before your next renewal.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, which also cancels your subscription. We may close accounts that break these terms. The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

Liability

The service is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profit or data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer.

Governing law

Polish law governs these terms. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim there.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we update the date at the top of this page. Material changes apply 30 days after we publish them. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.
